The Social Concerns Committee includes charity and justice ministries, which are based on the Catholic Social Teaching.
Our mission includes: To enable all to grow in the knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching To create awareness of social issues in the communities and world of which we are a part To work toward peace and justice through parish and Diocesan activities including legislative advocacy Concern for and service to the poor and the needy is done through the ministries of Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and the Homebound, Nights at the Armory, Detention Ministry, Neighbors in Need, Thanksgiving Food Drives, Christmas Giving Trees, Operation Rice Bowl, and other activities. The need to actively participate in the voting process is emphasized through Faithful Citizenship activities. Respect for God’s creation is also emphasized and promoted particularly on Earth Day.
