Happy and Alleluia filled 4th Sunday In Easter.  As we await the coming Ascension and Pentecost we also continue to celebrate the sacramental life of the Church.  Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.

This Friday, Bishop Cantú will be visiting our parish to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation for our young candidates who will receive the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Do you know what the seven gifts are? Here they are: 1 ) wisdom, 2) understanding, 3) counsel, 4) fortitude, 5) knowledge, 6) piety, and 7) fear of the Lord. The blessing of these gifts is in our acceptance and use of the gift.

Do you pray for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life?  If you don’t then you should. Why?  The simple answer is these gifts help us to live a faithful life of a disciple of Jesus Christ.  And in receiving and living the gifts we then develop, as St. Paul reminds us in the Letter to the Galatians, the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit (5:22-23): ”charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness, modesty, self-control, chastity.”

If, as a Church, we could live these gifts and the fruits they produce, how different our community would look.  I would challenge you to ask for the gifts you specifically need in your life at this time.  Then tend to the fruits produced to enter into a life of sanctity and love in the peace of Jesus Christ.

¡Alegría plena y felicidad por este IV Domingo de Pascua!  Mientras esperamos la próxima Ascensión y Pentecostés, también continuamos celebrando la vida sacramental de la Iglesia. Ven Espíritu Santo, llena los corazones de los fieles y enciende en ellos el fuego de tu amor.

Este viernes, el Obispo Cantú visitará nuestra parroquia para celebrar el Sacramento de la Confirmación para nuestros jóvenes candidatos que recibirán los Dones del Espíritu Santo. ¿Sabes cuáles son los siete regalos? Aquí están: 1) sabiduría, 2) entendimiento, 3) consejo, 4) fortaleza, 5) conocimiento, 6) piedad y 7) temor del Señor. La bendición de estos dones está en nuestra aceptación y uso del don.

¿Oras por los Dones del Espíritu Santo en tu vida? Si no lo haces, deberías hacerlo. ¿Por qué? La respuesta simple es que estos dones nos ayudan a vivir una vida fiel de discípulo de Jesucristo. Y al recibir y vivir los dones desarrollamos, como nos recuerda San Pablo en la Carta a los Gálatas, los doce frutos del Espíritu Santo (5,22-23): “caridad, alegría, paz, paciencia, comprensión de los demás, bondad, generosidad, mansedumbre, fidelidad, modestia, dominio de sí mismo, castidad”.

Si, como Iglesia, pudiéramos vivir estos dones y los frutos que producen, qué diferente sería nuestra comunidad. Te reto a que pidas los regalos que necesitas específicamente en tu vida en este momento. Luego atender a los frutos producidos para entrar en una vida de santidad y amor en la paz de Jesucristo.
