   Happy, Holy and Joyous celebration of The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe or as it is better known…The Feast of Christ the King!!! This last Sunday in Ordinary time reminds us of the many blessings we share with each other and especially the joy and peace in knowing Jesus Christ has conquered sin and death and we know live as true sons and daughters of God our Father in Heaven.

   First, I wish to thank all of you for your attentiveness and prayer as you considered your vote at the ballot box a few weeks ago.  And while the vote on Proposition 1 did not go as I hoped and prayed it would, we know the ultimate victory will be one of life and hope as I noted above.  The parish, with the help of the Knights of Columbus, will be sponsoring busses for the West Coast Walk for Life in January where we will, in peaceful prayer once more, witness to the dignity and preciousness of life.  I would invite you to join me and other members of the parish in this call to witness for life.

   As the Ordinary Time comes to a close we are invited into a time of renewal and blessing in our Advent Season.  We find the hope in the birth of our Lord and Savior to begin to fill us with joy.  At St. Lawrence, we will continue to bring back many of the Advent traditions that slipped away from us as we were restricted in our worship over the past few years.

   We will also seek to bring new events and life to our parish schedule.  One suggestion was to gather for a night of caroling and perhaps some hot chocolate and cookies as a way to gather families, friends and our neighbors in the joy of our anticipation of Christmas Day.  If you are interested in helping to plan this let the office know and we will begin…

   Lastly, I know this is something I say very often…but it is our mission as baptized Christians…to invite others, especially fallen away Catholics, to re-engage in the faith.  Bishop Cantú has asked us to participate in an on-line survey for our Diocesan Synod, that can be found on our parish website, and as encouraged us to invite those away from the Church to participate too…They will only hear this message from you. Please invite and proclaim God’s love.

   ¡Feliz, Santa y Gozosa celebración de La Solemnidad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo! o como se le conoce mejor: ¡La Fiesta de Cristo Rey! Este último domingo del tiempo ordinario nos recuerda las muchas bendiciones que compartimos unos con otros y especialmente la alegría y la paz de saber que Jesucristo ha vencido el pecado y la muerte y saber que podemos vivir como verdaderos hijos e hijas de Dios nuestro Padre Celestial.

   Primero, deseo agradecerles a todos por su atención y la oración que hicieron mientras consideraban su voto en las urnas hace unas semanas. Y aunque los resultados de la votación sobre la Proposición 1 no fueron como yo esperaba y por lo que recé, sabemos que la victoria final será de vida y esperanza, como señalé anteriormente. Con la ayuda de los Caballeros de Colón y para reducir costos, la parroquia patrocinará un autobús para la Caminata por la Vida de la Costa Oeste en enero, donde en oración pacífica, una vez más daremos testimonio de la dignidad y el valor de la vida. Los invito a unirse a mí y a otros miembros de la parroquia en este llamado a dar testimonio por la vida.

   A medida que el Tiempo Ordinario llega a su fin, estamos invitados a iniciar un tiempo de renovación y bendición en esta época de Adviento. Encontramos la esperanza en el nacimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador para comenzar a llenarnos de alegría.  En San Lorenzo, continuaremos regresando a celebrar muchas de las tradiciones de Adviento que se nos escaparon cuando estuvimos restringidos en nuestra adoración en los últimos años.

   También buscaremos traer nuevos eventos y vida a nuestro horario parroquial. Una sugerencia fue reunirnos para una noche de villancicos y tal vez un poco de chocolate caliente y galletas como una forma de reunir a las familias, amigos y vecinos en la alegría de nuestra anticipación del día de Navidad. Si está interesado en ayudar a planificar esto, infórmele a la oficina y comenzaremos...

   Por último, sé que esto es algo que digo muy a menudo…, pero es nuestra misión como cristianos bautizados, invitar a otras personas, especialmente a los católicos apartados, a volver a comprometerse en la fe. El obispo Cantú nos ha pedido que participemos en una encuesta en línea para nuestro Sínodo Diocesano, (la puede encontrar en la página web de nuestra parroquia) y nos animó a invitar a aquellos que no pertenecen a la Iglesia a participar también, pues ellos solo podrán escuchar este mensaje de usted. ¡Por favor invite y proclame el amor de Dios!
