Happy and blessed 20th week in Ordinary Time, we have left the weeks of ‘teens’ behind and begin the next decade of loving and serving our Lord and neighbor as beloved children of God.

Almost all of our children, both high school and elementary school have begun the new year of school. This means a great change in schedule and what we need to do each day.  Even your pastor has to change his schedule.  Each morning, I will be outside greeting the students and parents as they arrive at St. Lawrence the Martyr Elementary and Middle School.  I will be taking time during the day to drop by the classrooms, see the children during recess and talk with teachers, staff and parents during the day before waving goodbye to our wonderful students as they journey home. This along with the other school activities will keep me a little busier but it is a good and wonderful busyness.  Our parish school is a vital and important part of our ministry to families. As many of you shared during our parish meetings a few weeks ago, we are called to offer opportunities to develop the faith of not just the children but also their parents and other family members.

And just a friendly reminder, if you are interested or know someone who is interested and would benefit from Catholic education, we are accepting new students.  Please come and talk with us before you say “We can’t.”

Speaking of education….have you signed you child or teen up for Catechism?  registration is open right now.  Please go to our parish website to complete the registration form.  Even if you child has already received First Holy Communion, their continued formation in the faith is important in forming the family in the Catholic faith.  Please, once more from the suggestions we have received, look for opportunities for parents and families to experience the presence of Jesus in our lives through times of prayer and catechesis in the coming months. Registration for teens who are called to be confirmed are also open at this time.  Come and join us in the journey of faith.

As we continue the work of the Diocesan Synod and the Eucharistic Revival, we ask that you continue to pray and read about the progress and the actions taken to grow a stronger and more joyous Catholic culture which transforms the world. We will continue to provide more information as we move forward.

Feliz y bendecida vigésima semana del Tiempo Ordinario. Hemos dejado atrás las semanas de la adolescencia y comenzamos la próxima década de amar y servir a nuestro Señor y al prójimo como hijos amados de Dios.

Casi todos nuestros niños, tanto de secundaria como de primaria han comenzado el nuevo año escolar. Esto significa un gran cambio en el horario y de todo lo que tenemos que hacer cada día. Incluso su pastor (yo) tiene que cambiar su horario, cada mañana estaré afuera saludando a los estudiantes y padres cuando lleguen a la Escuela Primaria e Intermedia de San Lorenzo.  Me tomaré un tiempo durante el día para pasar por las aulas a saludarlos, ver a los niños durante el recreo y hablar con los maestros, el personal y los padres durante el día antes de despedirme de nuestros maravillosos estudiantes en su viaje de regreso a casa.  Esto, junto con las otras actividades escolares, me mantendrá un poco más ocupado, pero es una ocupación buena y maravillosa. Nuestra escuela parroquial es una parte vital e importante de nuestro ministerio a las familias y, como ya muchos de ustedes compartieron durante nuestras reuniones parroquiales hace unas semanas, estamos llamados a ofrecer oportunidades para desarrollar la fe no solo de los niños sino también de sus padres y de otros miembros de la familia.

Y solo un recordatorio amistoso: Si usted está interesado o conoce a alguien que esté interesado y se beneficiaría de la educación católica, estamos aceptando nuevos estudiantes.  Venga y hable con nosotros antes de decir "No podemos".

Hablando de educación... ¿Ha inscrito a su niño o adolescente en el catecismo? el registro está abierto en este momento. Visite el sitio web de nuestra parroquia para completar el formulario de registro. Incluso si su hijo ya ha recibido la Primera Comunión, su formación continua es importante para formar la familia en la fe católica. Por favor, una vez más a partir de las sugerencias que hemos recibido, busque oportunidades para que los padres y las familias experimenten la presencia de Jesús en nuestras vidas a través de momentos de oración y catequesis en los próximos meses.  La inscripción para los adolescentes que son llamados para ser confirmados también está abierta en este momento. Venga y únase a nosotros en este camino de fe.

Mientras continuamos el trabajo del Sínodo Diocesano y el Avivamiento Eucarístico, le pedimos que siga orando y leyendo sobre el progreso y las acciones tomadas para hacer crecer una cultura católica más fuerte y alegre que transforme el mundo. Continuaremos brindando más información a medida que avancemos.
