Happy and Holy 4th Sunday in Advent! The anticipation level is very high as the last days of our season of preparation slip away and we prepare to celebrate Christmas and the season which will follow.
Our celebrations of Christmas are about family: the family we share here on earth and the family of saints in heaven modeled in the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It is a family of love which continues to expand and gather in the greater joy of how we are united as one in Jesus Christ.
Members of our parish community will be receiving guests just as other members of the community will become guests during these holidays. Our children are out of school and those in college will be home for a short break in their studies. We also know some members of the community who will be isolated, alone and without family during these days.
The Holy Family experienced many of these same things, journeying from their home in Nazareth to Bethlehem during the end of a pregnancy. Traveling away from family and friends and feeling alone and isolated. But we also hear of how, at the birth of the child Jesus, they were surrounded by the joy of the heavenly host and the wonder of the shepherds called to witness the new life - the light of the world born in the manger in Bethlehem.
As Christians, we are called to celebrate and witness, to gather and share as we proclaim the good news of the birth of Jesus.
It is a good reminder to us to reach out to those around us who may be alone to share our Christmas cheer. It may be sharing a plate of cookies or a meal during these holy days with a neighbor or friend. It is time when a knock on the door or a Christmas carol can lift the hearts of those around us. And of course it is a time to invite people to come and celebrate the good news of the season of Christmas where we remind ourselves of the real reason we come in joy to celebrate with one another in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Thank you to all the members of the parish who have and will continue to share their time and talents in making this time such a blessing and also to each and every person in their stewardship of treasure which allows us to create such a beautiful environment to celebrate the glory of God.

¡Feliz y Santo 4º Domingo de Adviento! El nivel de expectación va en aumento en la medida que se nos escapan los últimos días de este tiempo de preparación, mientras nos alistamos para celebrar la Navidad y la temporada que seguirá.
Nuestras celebraciones de Navidad tienen que ver con la familia: la familia que compartimos aquí en la tierra y la familia de los santos en el cielo. modelada en la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, María y José. Es una familia de amor que continúa expandiéndose y compartiendo, para festejar el hecho de que somos uno, en Jesucristo.
Durante estos días festivos, muchos miembros de nuestra comunidad parroquial recibirán a personas invitadas, al igual que otros se convertirán en invitados. Nuestros hijos no van a la escuela y los que están en la universidad estarán en casa para tomar un breve descanso de sus estudios. Y también conocemos a algunos miembros de la comunidad que estarán aislados, solos y sin familia durante estos días. La Sagrada Familia experimentó muchas de estas mismas cosas, al viajar desde su hogar en Nazaret a Belén durante el final de un embarazo. Viajar lejos de familiares y amigos y sentirse solo y aislado. Pero también escuchamos cómo al nacer el niño Jesús fueron envueltos por la alegría de las cortes celestiales y el asombro de los pastores llamados a ser testigos de la vida nueva, la luz del mundo nacida en el pesebre de Belén.
Como cristianos, estamos llamados a celebrar y dar testimonio, a reunirnos y compartir mientras proclamamos las buenas nuevas del nacimiento de Jesús.
Es un buen recordatorio para nosotros acercarnos a aquellos que nos rodean y que pueden estar solos, para compartir nuestra alegría navideña. Puede ser compartir un plato de galletas o una comida durante estos días santos con un vecino o amigo. Es el momento en que un solo golpe en la puerta o un villancico pueden levantar el corazón de quienes nos rodean. Y, por supuesto, es un momento para invitar a las personas a venir y celebrar las buenas noticias de la temporada navideña, donde recordamos la verdadera razón por la que acudimos con alegría a celebrar unos con otros en la celebración de la Eucaristía.
Gracias a todos los miembros de la parroquia que dan y seguirán compartiendo su tiempo y talentos para hacer de esta Navidad una bendición y también a todas y cada una de las personas en la administración de los recursos que nos permite crear un ambiente tan hermoso para celebrar la gloria de Dios.
