Happy and Holy 5th Sunday in Easter!  Alleluia! He is Risen! Alleluia! Indeed He is Risen! Alleluia! as we continue to celebrate these days of joy and blessing.

Spring time is in full bloom as the weather warms and the days are beginning to grow longer.  As I noted in the bulletin last week we, as many parishes in our diocese, are celebrating the  Sacraments of renewal and initiation as our teens received the Sacrament of Confirmation and our children their First Holy Communion. This newness of life and the gifts of the Holy Spirit inspire and infuse the Church with the ever new hope in Jesus Christ.

In a few weeks, we will begin several weeks of “3 Minute Catechesis” on our Easter book, Becoming a Eucharistic People where we will enter into a time of study and prayer in renewing our Eucharistic life as Catholics. As the author Timothy O’Malley reminds us, “the deepest identity of every parish must be the Eucharist, the self-giving love of Jesus Christ given for the life of the world.” (p. xxvii)  We will look at different aspects of what it means to become a Eucharistic people and how we live this life in hope, joy and blessing. The challenge we are given are the last words in the preface, “It is in your parish that a Eucharistic Revival will commence.” (p xxxii)

This is truly the reality we face. As the Body of Christ, we are all called to work together,  but we must also be active in moving together in unity and love.

In this work, St. Lawrence the Martyr Parish will begin this summer to form a working parish council focusing on the Eucharistic Revival and also on the work of the Diocesan Synod and the goals produced.  This will be the work of many, not just a few.  I and the parish leadership will rely on our fellow parishioners in creating working groups where the joy of the Gospel message is shared in the whole community.

As we talk more about this in the future months, please begin the prayerful consideration of how you are able to participate. As I said above, this is the work of many.  As Pope Francis reminds us, “Those who are touched by God’s grace cannot turn in on themselves and live only for themselves; they are always on the march, always driven to go forward — and to go forward together… that we are making this journey not as those who already possess God, but as those who continue to seek Him.”

¡Feliz y Santo V domingo de Pascua! ¡Aleluya! ¡Él ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya! ¡Ciertamente Él ha Resucitado! ¡Aleluya! ¡Continuemos celebrando estos días de alegría y bendición!

La primavera está en plena floración al tiempo que el clima se calienta y los días comienzan a alargarse. Como señalé en el boletín de la semana pasada, nosotros, al igual que muchas otras parroquias en nuestra diócesis, estamos celebrando los Sacramentos de renovación e iniciación, y tanto nuestros adolescentes han recibido el Sacramento de la Confirmación, como nuestros niños han hecho su primera Comunión. Esta novedad de vida y los dones del Espíritu Santo inspiran e infunden a la Iglesia la esperanza siempre nueva en Jesucristo.

En unas semanas comenzaremos varias semanas de “Catequesis de 3 Minutos” de nuestro libro de Pascua, Convertirse en un Pueblo Eucarístico donde entraremos en un tiempo de estudio y oración para renovar nuestra vida Eucarística como católicos. Como nos recuerda el autor Timothy O'Malley: "la identidad más profunda de cada parroquia debe ser la Eucaristía, el amor de entrega de sí mismo de Jesucristo para la vida del mundo". (p. XXVII) Veremos diferentes aspectos de lo que significa convertirse en un pueblo eucarístico y cómo vivimos esta vida en esperanza, alegría y bendición. El desafío que se nos da son las últimas palabras del prefacio: “Es en su parroquia donde se iniciará un Avivamiento Eucarístico” (p. XXXII).

Esta es verdaderamente la realidad a la que nos enfrentamos. Como Cuerpo de Cristo, todos estamos llamados a trabajar juntos, pero también debemos ser activos para avanzar juntos en unidad y amor.

En este trabajo, nuestra parroquia de San Lorenzo comenzará este verano a formar un consejo parroquial de trabajo enfocado en el Reavivamiento Eucarístico, así como en el trabajo del Sínodo Diocesano y los objetivos alcanzados. Esto requiere el trabajo de muchos, no solo de unos pocos. El consejo parroquial y yo confiaremos en nuestros compañeros feligreses para crear grupos de trabajo donde la alegría del mensaje del Evangelio se comparta en toda la comunidad.

A medida que hablemos más sobre esto en los próximos meses, comience usted a poner en oración el cómo puede participar. Como se dijo anteriormente, este es el trabajo de muchos, como nos recuerda el Papa Francisco: “Quien ha sido tocado por la gracia de Dios no puede cerrarse y vivir solo para sí mismo, está siempre en camino, siempre esforzándose por ir adelante y, avanzar juntos (…) recordemos que estamos en camino no como quienes ya poseen a Dios, sino como buscadores de Dios.”

¡Aleluya! ¡Él ha resucitado! ¡Aleluya!  ¡Ciertamente Él ha Resucitado!
