Happy and blessed 6th Sunday of Easter.  The month of May has begun.  Your Pastor is one year older.  And the families of many young children in our Parish have had their children receive their First Holy Communion. God is so very good.

If we look ahead, next Sunday we celebrate the gift of our mothers.  Mother’s Day is special in so many wonderful ways. And while this holiday is secular in nature, our Catholic faith always reminds us how motherhood is at the center of our story of redemption through the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin Mary. We also know throughout salvation history, motherhood and the birth of children hold special meaning in what and how we are called to believe.

Second, we continue to look at different ways we will be moving forward on how we will be implementing our Diocesan Pastoral Plan.  Bishop Cantú has encouraged us to work in a special manner on hospitality and welcoming at each parish.  We will be studying different aspects of the plan and how welcoming and hospitality can be done to the greatest effect at St. Lawrence.  One step forward is a “hospitality meeting” that was held yesterday May 4th. There are other parts of the plan moving forward, such as a young adult gathering a few weeks ago at St. Lucy Parish and the upcoming meeting of young adults at the end of summer.  We are, at St. Lawrence forming a marriage ministry that we will be rolling out in the coming months to begin this fall.  We will continue to keep the parish informed about what is going on in this plan.

Lastly, our parish school needs your help.  On May 16th, our parish school will be having an open house to celebrate and promote our new Dual Language Immersion program for T-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Dual Language Immersion (DLI) is a wonderful expression of how to help our children grow in their education experience. On the back of the bulletin you can see a notice from the school and we hope that you can hand this out to friends and neighbors.  Thanks for your help.

Feliz y bendecido VI Domingo de Pascua.  El mes de mayo ha comenzado. Su pastor es un año más grande. Y las familias de muchos niños pequeños de nuestra Parroquia han hecho que sus hijos reciban su Primera Comunión. ¡Dios es muy bueno!

Si miramos hacia adelante, el próximo domingo celebraremos el regalo de nuestras madres. El Día de las Madres es especial en muchos sentidos maravillosos. Y si bien esta festividad es de naturaleza secular, nuestra fe católica siempre nos recuerda, cómo la maternidad está en el centro de nuestra historia de redención debido al nacimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo a través de la Santísima Virgen María. También sabemos que, a lo largo de la historia de la salvación, la maternidad y el nacimiento de los hijos tienen un significado especial en lo que somos y en el cómo estamos llamados a creer.

En segundo lugar, continuamos analizando diferentes formas en las que avanzaremos en la implementación de nuestro Plan Pastoral Diocesano. Mons. Cantú nos ha animado a trabajar de manera especial la hospitalidad y la acogida en cada parroquia. Estudiaremos diferentes aspectos del plan, así como el cómo se puede lograr el mayor efecto de acogida y hospitalidad en St. Lawrence. Un paso adelante es una “reunión de hospitalidad” que se realizó ayer 4 de mayo. Hay otras partes del plan que van avanzando, por ejemplo, una reunión de jóvenes adultos hace unas semanas en la parroquia St. Lucy y la próxima reunión de jóvenes adultos a finales del verano. En St. Lawrence estamos formando un ministerio matrimonial que implementaremos en los próximos meses para comenzar este otoño. Continuaremos manteniendo informada a la parroquia sobre lo que está sucediendo en este plan.

Por último, nuestra escuela parroquial necesita su ayuda. El 16 de mayo, nuestra escuela parroquial tendrá una jornada de puertas abiertas para celebrar y promover nuestro nuevo programa de inmersión en dos idiomas para Preescolar, jardín de infantes y primer grado. La inmersión en dos idiomas (DLI) es una expresión maravillosa de cómo ayudar a nuestros niños a crecer en su experiencia educativa. En la parte posterior del boletín puede ver un aviso de la escuela y esperamos que pueda repartirlo entre amigos y vecinos. ¡Gracias por su ayuda!
