Welcome to St. Lawrence Elementary and Middle Schools!

GRADING

Report cards are issued each trimester (three times a year) to all students. Paper Progress Reports are sent to the parents of all students in grades K-3 at the midpoint of first trimester and as needed at the midpoint of each subsequent trimester.

By reviewing graded, returned assignments, parents are able to keep abreast of their student's academic achievement and progress in all grades. Additionally, parents of students in grades 4-8 and those students may use PowerSchool to check grades at any time during the trimester. Teachers update PowerSchool, which shows scores on assignments and tests, cumulative grades, and attendance data, weekly.

St. Lawrence School uses the Diocesan standards for letter grades in grade 4-8. That standard is:

A = 100-96 C = 77-74
A- = 95-92 C- = 73-70
B+= 91-89 D+= 69-67
B = 88-85 D = 66-64
B- = 84-82 D- = 63-60
C+= 81-78 F = Below 60

Homework assignments may be accessed on each teacher's website. This information is made available for the convenience of parents, and we expect students to maintain an assignment notebook and record the homework and long-term projects as the assignments are given.

Teachers communicate with parents regarding student progress via PowerSchool, email, telephone, notes, assignment books, the signing and returning of tests, and mid-term progress reports. The goal is to keep communication open and initiate intervention before students experience academic difficulty.
