The Sacrament of Confirmation is part of the initiation of Catholic Christians. It enriches those baptized by the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Because of it, those confirmed are united more perfectly to the Church.

They are strengthened with the seven-fold gift of the Spirit: wisdom, understanding, right judgment, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder/awe in God’s presence. They are sent to be witnesses to Christ by word and deed, spreading the faith to all they meet. Jesus promised that he would give an abiding presence in the Holy Spirit, (John 14: 15-17). He fulfilled that promise in his Resurrection appearance (John 20: 22) and in the Pentecost event (Acts 2).
