PRAYER GROUPS

Men's Faith Sharing Group

The men's faith-sharing group is a group that allows men time to reflect on the deeper clues and meaning of life with other men of similar life experience. Men get together normally for sporting and social events or business meetings. The demands of career and family life can consume their time and energy, and few have the time or inclination to develop their spiritual life. This is an opportunity to spend time with men from their parish or community, and to address some of the challenges and struggles that are unique to men. In essence, it is an opportunity to challenge oneself to grow spiritually in an open and nurturing environment. The men's faith-sharing group meets in the rectory conference room every Friday from 6:30am - 8:00am and we usually bring breakfast snacks to start the meeting. The same group of men has met for nearly two years and would welcome other men interested in such a group. Most of them are young fathers who share the same struggles of daily life and come seeking spiritual insight to their lives.

NEW!

Help bring Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
to St. Lawrence Parish!

We are forming a core group of people to accomplish this and we need volunteers to assist in this most beautiful offering to God.  Please call Sarah at (408) 296-4170 if you would like to be part of the team.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. In the many Churches that have this adoration, the Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and often the night. Christ’s great love for us was shown when He was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and give us eternal life. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. Can we not give Jesus a few minutes of love and adoration in return?

In the words of John Paul II, Dominicae cenae , 3:

The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship.  Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love.  Let us not refuse the time to go to meet Him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world.  Let our adoration never cease.

Youth and Young Adult Ministry

St. Lawrence the Martyr's unique Youth/Young Adult ministry (LJC) combines the talent of youth and young adults in three parishes to provide opportunities for growth in Christian faith, as well as fun activities and service to the community. Weekly liturgy at 6:00pm includes music provided by our Youth/Young Adult community and is followed by a meeting at either St. Lawrence, St. Justin, or st. Claire's parish. Periodic retreats and youth leader training are a vital part of out growing youth program. Come check us out! Volunteers are needed to help with administrative functions, chaperoning, core team leadership, hospitality, mentoring, art and environment, retreat planning and coordination of community service projects.

“Through adoration, the Christian mysteriously contributes to the radical transformation of the world and to the sowing of the Gospel.  Anyone who prays to the Savior draws the whole world with him and raises it to God.”   - Pope John Paul II in a letter to the Bishop of Liege, 1996
