Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are fully initiated Catholics commissioned to serve the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembly at Mass.  They possess a deep love for this sacrament; indeed, this ministry is often referred to as an “important office of immense love.” Like all ministry, this is a great honor with great responsibility. Ministers undertake it with the intention to grow in devotion to the Mass, to the church that celebrates it, and to the Lord, through whom and in whom it can be done. Contact Mike Piccardo at (408) 247-1688 or piccardo@ix.netcom.com

Lectors
The Parish of St. Lawrence the Martyr needs your help to carry the Word to our parish family. The Office of Worship needs fully initiated Catholics to serve as Lectors at all Masses.  This challenging, but rewarding ministry allows you to serve the congregation of St. Lawrence, but also bring you closer to the Word of God.Training will be provided and remember who is writing the scripts! Please contact the Parish Office at 296-3000
if you are interested in this Ministry.

Ministers of Hospitality/Ushers
In 1972,the general instruction of the Roman Missal acknowledged the special ministry of hospitality and opened up this ministry to women.  The keyword here is Ministry. This is the most significant word given to us in the second Vatican council. The church sees herself as a “servant church” with the whole of her membership called to ministry.  Among the servants of God who comprise the membership of the body of Christ, the ministers of hospitality are called to provide a very special service in their exercise of a true liturgical ministry. We wouldn’t think of celebrating a family reunion without our guests being greeted and welcomed.  This is an important responsibility taken up by the ministers of hospitality. Our Sunday celebrations are about warm friendships and each person arriving must experience the feeling of belonging, a sense that, “It is good to be here”.  It is much more, of course, because we prepare to meet CHRIST HIMSELF, in each other, in his WORD and in his BODY AND BLOOD.  Anyone interested in this important ministry, especially you LADIES (husbands and wives, too), contact Stan Spence at 245-1485.

Collection Counters
Being a counter at St. Lawrence gives you the opportunity to quietly serve, without being in the limelight. We work in small teams to sort the generousdonations given by our community. Each team is required to serve one Sundayper month. Team captains train members to be cash counters, envelopeopeners, check recorders or even captain of a team! If you are aparishioner of St. Lawrence and enjoy having friendly conversations, whileadding numbers, please contact the rectory or Michelle Varnau at michelle@varnau.net to join one of our teams.

Altar Servers

If you have a desire to become a more active participant during Mass, the altar-serving ministry is a great way to do so. Altar servers are those among the faithful who display a desire to participate in a more intimate way during Mass. The primary duty of a server is to assist the priests by doing assigned tasks. These tasks are done in a certain form with attention, dignity and reverence. Proper server etiquette and tasks are taught through training. There are a few requirements to become an altar server. Servers need to be Baptized and able to receive Holy Communion. Altar Servers must be at least in the 4th grade. Although the majority of altar servers in this parish are pre-teens and teens, adults are also welcome to be part of this ministry.  For more information about this ministry, contact Rowell Allan David, coordinator of the Altar Server Ministry at rowelldavid@hotmail.com.

Sacristans
The Ministry of Sacristan is a time-honored Ministry in our Church. Sacristans provide a vital service to the community by doing all things that are necessary to ensure that our liturgical celebrations are set up and cleaned up by a person who takes seriously the importance of the relationship between faith actions of the worshipping community and the appearance of the place where they gather.

The Ministry of Sacristan include:

Set Up

Set-Up Sacristans set up before each liturgical celebration by placing the sacramental items needed for that liturgy in the proper place. Set-Up Sacristans arrive 30 minutes before Mass and stay after Mass to clean up.

Launderers

Launderers are responsible for washing and ironing the linens and towels used at each liturgical celebration. Soiled laundry is picked up by the Sacristan on Sunday of each week and returned by the following Saturday.

Sanctuary Attendants

Sanctuary Attendants clean the Sanctuary each Friday or Saturday. The Sanctuary Attendants work in teams of two, and are responsible for making the Worship place clean and tidy for liturgical celebrations.
